This post got me looking up flower meanings, during which I found out that Iris's name is pretty apt:

The flower symbolism associated with the iris is faith, wisdom, cherished friendship, hope, valor, my compliments, promise in love... The blade-shaped foliage denotes the sorrows which 'pierced her heart.'

(Incidentally, this page recommends mixing irises into bouquets of dahlias "for a striking visual display as well as a combined symbolic message that says “temper your adventures with a kind heart.”" Heh.)

Iris smiled at Phoenix as she stepped into the visiting area. They'd talked online, of course, but it was still nice to see him again in person. Though it was a little strange that he hadn't told her that he was planning to visit... Well, maybe it had just been a spur-of-the-moment decision. It was a nice surprise, in any case.

"It's good to see you," she said.

I didn't want to spam the OOC community with this, but: I'd like to apologize to anyone I was threading with for my extreme fail over the past few days. Basically, certain things have been going on in real life that needed my attention, and left me with zero energy for RPing even when I wasn't busy. I'll be picking up my dropped threads shortly, but that's why I suddenly dropped off the face of the Internet.

Because I love a good bandwagon:
